Selection headache

Following on from my last post, The Herald is reporting that Ian Davidson (Con, NE Scotland) has failed in his bid to be re-selected as the candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, with the Tories' nomination instead going to Stewart Whyte. Tory party rules state that only constituency candidates can be put forward as candidates for the party list, so Davidson now has to find a new stomping ground, or he'll be out of Holyrood come 2007. I was going to say he'll join James Douglas-Hamilton, but that's not true: Douglas-Hamilton has a peerage and will be heading for the House of Lords.
