Selection Box

The main story is that Kate Maclean has announced that she'll be standing down from Holyrood next year, despite having already been re-selected by Labour. The party aim to have a replacement for her within 12 weeks, but it's going to have to be a very strong candidate: this is one of the SNP's top targets, with a swing of 2.5% being enough to see it in the hands of current Dundee City Councillor Joe FitzPatrick, the SNP group's Chief Whip. And with Labour in their current troubles, it looks like the party are going to need a candidate who is capable of crossing the Tay on foot if they're to hold on to that constituency.
