How to attack someone without even talking about them

Credit goes entirely to Scottish Tory Boy for spotting this one before I did.

Anyway, Jeremy Purvis, MSP for Tweeddale, Ettrick & Lauderdale has pulled out of the race to succeed Nicol Stephen (tabloid journalists, put the knives back in the drawer, you'll get your chance to deal with him another day), saying:

With the contest between Ross [Finnie] and Tavish [Scott], however, my views on the future of the party will be properly reflected and the membership have a difficult but necessary choice to choose the leader best equipped to take us forward.

No mention of the first one out the starting blocks, a certain Mr. M. Rumbles?

Slammed by omission - there's a certain style to that which I quite like. I have a new-found admiration for Mr. Purvis today.

Are you suggesting there is a low-brow story out there regarding Jeremy Purves which is not yet in the public eye? Outrageous!

Jeff, would I dare make such a horrid suggestion?

I'm not sure which is worse the tabloid journos or you lot.

Why, we are, Stephen, for the tabloid journalists get paid and we do this for fun.

Guess those CCTV images will have to wait for another day then...

Not sure if you’ve noticed Stephen but you are part of the blogging fraternity as well.
