A good idea is a good idea
Via Angry Steve, I learn that Tim O'Reilly has suggested that blogs contain content warnings, explaining to readers what they could see if they dare to read an uncensored blog.
Steve isn't too impressed, and personally, I think that a warning that people might start being rude to each other is slightly pathetic. Maybe it's just because one of my neighbours has a three year old child who sticks two fingers up at passing cars, while another tells her dog to, and I quote, 'stop f***ing staring' at her, because it's making her, and I quote again, 'f***ing paranoid'. Or maybe it's because a few wrong clicks (or a few correct ones) can bring up various sites that will, no doubt, make your time online a little bit more interesting (how you choose to define 'interesting' is up to you). Basically, we no longer live in a world of drinking tea, eating crumpets and playing croquet on the lawn (best said in a BBC accent). Unless you're John Prescott, in which case forget the BBC accent.
But a general summary about what people can expect when they scroll down isn't a bad idea in principle. So I've put one up. I stopped myself from putting 'Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here' and I held back from turning it into a personal ad.

What I want is spikes on the front of my blog, to impale the heads of my enemies...
I do believe you're going soft in your old age...
Soft?! Moi?! Nah, it's quite good to appear cuddly... all the better to terrify people when I turn ugly.
'It's only a rabbit', remember?
'Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here'
I think this would reassure people a bit so I urge you to include it in the next blog redesign.
Nah, I think I'll go with, "You're my wife now, Dave!"
